Can you believe it’s already the middle of February?

Seriously.

Have you set your goals yet for 2024? If you’ve set them—have you stuck to them?

Whatever your goal-setting situation—if you are looking to grow your affiliate marketing business it’s so important to set goals and a plan to get there.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

Analyze Your 2023 Performance

To know where we’re going, we have to know where we’ve been. Pretend like you are briefing your stakeholders on an annual performance call. This means metrics, qualitative measures, analytics, and methodology. Look at the cold hard numbers and ask, “What went well? What maybe didn’t go so well?” Be very specific with yourself and determine:

  • What was your revenue?
  • How much did you spend (on ads, services, subscriptions, etc)?
  • How was your traffic?
  • What were the top performing products?
  • What did you make the most commission from?
  • What were the top performing platforms?
  • Did you perform any A/B testing? What was the result? Can you incorporate more tests?
  • What type of messaging worked best?
  • Do you foresee any risks in the upcoming year? If so, can you mitigate them?
  • How did you incorporate new affiliate brands? Were they successful?

Once you have these key performance indicators, you’ll be able to make changes to what didn’t work and double down on what did work. It’s worth noting here—depending on your goals—using a product like Shared Vision with its convenient Product Hub and data dashboard, all of this information is available with a couple of clicks.

Seek Out a Trend

Truth? Your audience will follow you because they are invested in you.

They think of you as an expert.

As an expert, make it a goal of yours to come up with a prediction about an upcoming trend or two and incorporate that into your affiliate marketing plan. Try out trends. Let your audience know what you think.

One great suggestion? Try out different products in the same product category and let your readers know your recommendation. For example—which (in your opinion) is the best gold spray paint? The best towel set? The best drill? The best tool set for beginners?

Think about your niche and what you’ve seen emerge to figure out what you can share with your followers. Study your niche. Investigate news articles, company press releases, Ted Talks, or interviews of authority figures in your field. You might even find a great source of inspiration for future posts. Once you’ve done your research, present it to your audience in a manner that they can relate to and make sure to stretch this content out across multiple posts. This will not only make the most out of your hard work, it will keep your audience engaged since they’ll want to find out more.

Review Your Own Branding

The value of your affiliate marketing business ultimately rests on the value of your brand.

While a lot of this will depend on your own personality as well as your niche, you should take a second to evaluate your brand and set goals to increase its value.

How can you do this?

It’s subjective, and no one truly knows the exact how and why, but in general, having a clear voice and persona is what will make your audience loyal to you.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Can you improve your authenticity?
  2. How can you differentiate yourself from other affiliate marketers in your niche?
  3. Is there any new visual branding you can accomplish, like adding a logo or a consistent color theme?
  4. What content is your audience responding to?

Remember that you can always utilize Shared Vision’s branding tools to accomplish this visual aspect of your shopping lists.

Increase Engagement

To sell more? It’s important to increase engagement.

Your audience is the best source of information to figure out what your goals should be. In addition to looking at clicks and post interaction, don’t forget to interact with your readers on a regular basis. Set a timer and interact with messages/followers for a certain period of time.If you can, increase the interaction you have with your fans to get more feedback on what you should work on. Focus on responding to comments and DMs. Grow your email list. Issue a survey via email or a poll in a social media post. In other words, ask and you shall receive.
